BS6 Maruti Suzuki Ignis officially launched at auto expo 2020!
Maruti Suzuki India have unveiled the BS6 Ignis in India at the Auto Expo 2020. Maruti calls it a compact urban SUV but, it actually is very similar to the outgoing model. The car has certain cosmetic updates made to its exterior while the overall shape and appeal is the same. This compact hatchback will take on the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 NiOS, Tata Tiago, Ford Figo and Maruti’s own Swift!
Mechanically, the new Ignis now comes with a BS6 compliant 1.2 liter-4 cylinder K-Series petrol engine. This motor pushes out 82 bhp of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque. A five speed manual gearbox is standard while a 5 speed automated manual transmission (AMT) is offered as an option.
The car comes loaded with a lot of kit on offer including a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, reverse parking sensors and camera, automatic climate control and safety features like twin airbags and ABS.
On the outside, there is a new bold front grille with LED projector headlamps. The LED DRL’s are the same as before and that grille reminds me of the Jeep Compass!
