After months of anticipation, the newest performance SUV by Audi, the RS Q8 has been launched in India. And yes, as one would expect, it does come with a hefty price tag of 2.07 crores. Let us see if its really worth the money or not.
Let’s come to the most important part of this car first, the heart. It is powered by a roaring twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine churning out 608 German horses and 800 Nm of torque which is if kept in perspective, can kick start a small planet! The Q8 can sprint from 0-100 in just 3.8 seconds which is astonishing and can achieve a top speed of 250 kph. If 300 kph is the barrier you want to break then Audi has got you covered with its Dynamic Plus Package which slingshots the car to 305 kph. All this power is handled by an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. it also features a 48V mild-hybrid system for improved efficiency. The RS Q8 also features cylinder-deactivation tech for this purpose which increases the efficiency of the vehicle by turning off a couple of cylinders while cruising at low speeds.
Other enhancements available on the RS Q8 as standard is all-wheel steering, Audi’s Virtual cockpit, Quattro AWD with a self-locking differential, adaptive air suspension with eight drive modes( including off-road and the customizable RS-specific RS1 and RS2 modes), an air-purifying system and 23-inch alloy wheels. Available optionally are RS ceramic brakes with Red, Gray or Blue callipers, RS HUD and a 48V electromechanical anti-roll system.
Notable interior features are the dual-screen MMI infotainment system with haptic feedback, ambient lighting, perforated RS Sport leather steering wheel, a powered tailgate and sport seats with RS embossing. For an added price, RS leather seats with seat ventilation and massage functions and a Bang and Olufsen audio system can be optioned.
Visually differentiating the RS Q8 from the standard Q8 is the gloss black honeycomb grille, larger air inlets in the bumpers with body-coloured inserts, a new roof spoiler and diffuser, RS-specific oval tailpipes and RS Matrix LED headlamps and LED rear combination lamps. Optionally, a black styling package with a blacked-out logo and a panoramic sunroof is available.
With such aggressive pricing and all the bells and whistles paired with an awesome engine and the Audi name tag, it can become the leader in the performance SUV segment and can definitely be a Urus killer. Interested buyers can book the RS Q8 with token money of 15 lakhs either by going to their nearest Audi showroom or online using the website
