Rumours have been going around that Renault India is expected to launch a new sub-four-metre SUV called the Kiger in early 2021. Well, now it seems that the rumours might just be true as the french-automaker has just released a short teaser video of the SUV in its concept form.
The internal codename that has been going around Renault offices is the HBC, while the concept here being showcase is being called the Renault Showcar.
The video shows some exterior details of the concept, which include the split LED headlight arrangement, an intricate spoiler, and some prominent rear haunches which lead eyes to the squared-off taillamps. While these exterior highlights definitely give the Kiger a unique look, it’ll be interesting to see which of these bits actually make it into production
The new Sub-4-metre Compact SUV will be based on the same CMF-A+ architecture as the Magnite and Triber. The SUV is expected to be powered by a new TCe 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine that will debut in the Magnite with 100PS and 160 Nm. There will also be a Naturally Aspirated 1.0-litre option, which will churn out producing 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque in the low-spec versions. The Kiger will get both, 5-speed manual and the AMT transmission options, while Renault is expected to bring the CVT transmission for the turbo petrol variants.
Prices of the Kiger are expected to start from below ₹6 Lakh ex-showroom.
