Land Rover Defender Diesel discreetly launched in India – Starts at INR 94.36L
The diesel Defender can now be had in eight variants - four for the Defender 90, and four for the Defender 110.
Land Rover seems to be the master of silently launching a new variant of a car as it has done so with the current-gen Defender – the Defender D300 will be available across the SE, HSE, X-Dynamic, and X variants of the 90 and 110 versions in India. Prices for the base-spec Defender 90 begins from INR 94.36L and Defender 110 starts from INR 97.03L.
The D300 motor is a 3.0L, 6-cyl diesel that can produce 296bhp and 650Nm of torque and comes mated to an 8-speed auto. The top speed of both models is electronically-limited to 191km/h.
The exterior stays the same – rugged yet, modern. Features like a body-colored roof, LED headlights and taillights, electronic and heated ORVMs along with an electronic air suspension continue to be offered. Safety-wise, you get Roll Stability Control (RSC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Hill Launch Assist, Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), ABS, and airbags.
With the diesel variants now included in the range, the Defender will only continue to please more people but with Jeep announcing that it will locally produce the Wrangler, and with Mercedes’ G350d leading the way, the competition has just got tougher.
