The BMW iX will launch in India on December 13th

The carmaker will be entering the Indian EV market with this car; will join the likes of the EQC and F-Pace

BMW has announced the arrival of their iX SUV, expected to reach Indian shores by December 14th. The car will be imported as a CBU.

The car has two variants- the iX xDrive 40 and the iX xDrive 50. The xDrive 40 has a power output of 326HP/630NM paired with a 71kWh battery, while the xDrive 50 has a power output of 523HP/765NM paired with a 105kWh battery. 0-100 takes 6.1 and 4.6 seconds respectively, while the xDrive 40 has a range of 414KM and the xDrive 50 has a whopping range of 611KM.

The car is fitted with a dual electric motor setup, with one motor on each axle. This enables AWD and RWD driving options, which make the car a treat to drive. Design-wise, there are a few cues synonymous to BMW, such as the grille, sharp head and tail lights, sharp bumper design which helps with aerodynamic efficiency. The grille is filled with gadgets and gizmos like cameras, radar and sensors thanks to not having to channel air inside the car. The tyres are 22″ 275/40, which also help in a smooth driving experience.

As for the interior, there is no centre console thanks to being an EV, and so there is just the iDrive rotary controller and the drive mode selector just in front of the armrest. The most unique part of the cabin is the steering wheel’s shape, a 6-sided hexagonal design being something not seen on most cars! Also a unique feature is how the infotainment system and instrument cluster are linked, along with a new HUD.

No pricing details have been revealed yet, though the car will rival the likes of the Audi e-Tron and the Mercedes EQC. We can assume the price to be around Rs 1 crore though, so let’s wait for the car’s official launch!
