The new Audi Q7 hits the Indian roads; prices start at INR 79.9 lakh

Teased a month ago, Audi's living room on wheels is finally on Indian roads!

Audi has launched the facelifted Q7 for the Indian roads today after teasing it on the production line a month ago, and prices start from Rs 79.99 lakh. There is only one petrol engine on offer, and there are only two available variants for the car- Premium Plus and Technology. The new Q7 has a lot more features than the outgoing model; let’s take a look at them in a bit more detail.

The oomph is provided by a 3.0L V6 TFSI petrol engine with a power output of 340HP/500NM, and there is also a 48V mild-hybrid system that provides power to the Belt Alternator System, which allows for the engine to be turned off for approximately 40 seconds while coasting, and then automatically restarts the engine as and when needed. 0-100 takes just 5.9 seconds, and the top speed is 250 km/h! Audi has also included their Quattro AWD system in the car along with adaptive air suspension, and there is also Audi’s Drive Select which has 7 driving modes (Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Efficiency, Off-Road, All-Road and Individual) to allow for ease of driving, and all this is mated to an automatic transmission.

The body shape will look quite familiar design-wise to the older car, which is not bad because what would be the reason to change a winning formula? The front bumper has been redesigned and the air inlets are now higher-placed as well. The grille is now flatter and wider, the headlights are Matrix LED’s with DRLs, and the tail lamps have dynamic turn indicators as well. The body rides on R19 wheels, and the car is available in 5 colours- Carrara White, Mythos Black, Navarra Blue, Samurai Grey and Floret Silver.

On the inside, the gizmos have been given a touch-up. There is now an ambient lighting system in place with over 30 different colour combinations. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit is seen on the car, as is Audi’s MMI system which is on a 10.1″ mounted display in the center console. The climate control options are also controlled via a touchscreen interface, and there is a panoramic sunroof available. A 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen speaker system is also standard, with a 16-channel amplifier and a total power output of 730W! To up the ante for luxury, rear-seat entertainment screens are also available as an optional extra.

In terms of safety, Audi has not left any stone unturned- something which is great. The car has 8 airbags as standard, and also has cruise control with a speed limiter, parking assist, lane departure warning system and steering assist as well, so as to give the driver utmost convenience. The second-row seats also have a recline function, and the front seats are powered and with a memory function as well. There are two variants on offer, and their prices are:

Audi Q7 – Premium Plus INR 79, 99, 000 Ex-Showroom
Audi Q7 – Technology INR 88, 33, 000 Ex-Showroom

The Q7 will go up against the BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Mercedes GLE and more. The car could have a smooth run with these new features, and could certainly give its competitors a run for their money!
