Mercedes-AMG turns 55 this year, and the brand is celebrating it in style. An exclusive version of the GT3 will be built and will be limited to only 5 units! It will be a unique collector’s edition variant with which owners will also get an exclusive IWC time piece. For the unaware, IWC is the same watch maker that sponsors their Petronas AMG Formula 1 team.
Exclusive Design
Every bit of the car will be special. It will be a performance based vehicle, with a special livery. It will be a special finish in MANUFAKTUR alpine grey with red highlight streaks on the sides, front canards and the likes. Don’t worry, the streaks are quite tastefully done. The aero components will be made of carbon-fiber (obviously), which include the front and rear diffuser, rear wing, end plates, radiator grille and side skirts. The AMG Affalterbach crest will be painted on the doors and the AMG logo will be painted on the rear wing.

On the inside, the driver gets a fully functional racing cockpit, exactly like the FIA version. However, the center console and the seat will be inscribed with “EDITION 55 – 1 OF 5”. The seats will also be specially embroidered with the anniversary symbol.

Technical Specifications
What’s more special than a specific set of chassis numbers for your exclusive racecar? The Mercedes-AMG EDITION 55 will get exactly this, like for example, “GT3.190-55”. Apart from this the car will come with an optimized 6.3L V8 motor, which will be able to produce 650 hp. The car will not be regulated by the FIA and the engine power will be 100 hp more than the standard variant. A special performance exhaust, made of Inconel will be fitted, that too without a silencer, to accentuate the sound of the car even more.
With this car, Mercedes-AMG pays homage to the 55 years of glory of the brand as a successful name in the field of motorsport. This year being special, Mercedes also plans to bring out a few more special editions based on previous AMG production models. However, the GT3 EDITION 55 will be priced at a hefty ₤625,000.
