Bentley adds Bentayga S and Azure to the SUV lineup – Now available with a V6 hybrid option!
Bentley has introduced a V6 hybrid to their Bentayga S and Azure with some other minor improvements.
Bentley Motors decided to bring an overhaul in the Bentayga range, the Bentayga S and the Bentayga Azure. The major change is a new electrically assisted V6 powertrain replacing the 550hp, 4.0-litre V8 engine. This is not the first time that Bentley has introduced hybrid SUVs, they will be additions to five other hybrid models – including the existing standard Bentayga hybrid and Bentley Flying Spur S hybrid. These models mark the milestone of 50 percent of the line-up being sold with an electrified powertrain which comes as no surprise as Bentley and many other brands shift their lineup to a full-on EV garage.
Bentley Bentayga S and Azure hybrid Updated Engines
The updated Bentayga S and Azure models now have under their hood, an uprated version of the V6 hybrid powertrain present in the standard Bentayga hybrid. It is the powerful combination of a 3.0-litre TFSI V6 engine with a 136hp electric motor, which is powered by an 18kWh battery. The two machines can together produce a maximum power of 462hp which stands at 88hp less than the full-fat V8. Both of the SUVs can touch from 0-100kph in 5.3sec. Bentley also claims that the both electric-only powe can run the cars for 43km.
Bentley Bentayga S – Exterior Design Changes (or lack thereof)
The design changes in the Bentayga S include a fairly unseen hybrid sports exhaust system, which you can hear from the cabin if you like. Bentley has added a Blackline specification to this which comes with polished metal as well as black for the door mirrors, side sills, headlight surrounds and radiator grille. There isn’t much change on the wheels department which are of 22-inch with a choice of blac k, silver or polished metal finishes. A speed-style tailgate spoiler, black tailpipes and dark tinted lights can be found in the trrear too.
Bentley Bentayga Azure: All that’s new!
The Azure gets more updates than the Bentayga S in the equipment department. It has the addition of interior mood lighting, heated steering wheel, as well as a front seat comfort pack with 22-way adjustability and heating and ventilation. The tires are of the same 22-inch size but it has more chrome on its bumpers. Bentley claims to have made the chassis 15 percent stiffer on the Azure, which enables the electronic stability control system to be more dynamic. Bentley is focusing the Azure to the customers who are looking for the quiet and delightful experience as it claims the Azure is 4 percent and 26 percent quieter than its counterparts from other companies. Bentley aims to go big on its electrification route as it claims that every model will have a hybrid powertrain by 2025 and we may also see an all-electric model be launched.
