Volkswagen unveils all new 7-seater Tiguan Allspace

Volkswagen has launched the all-new Tiguan Allspace in India and…yes! That’s the real the name.

It is built on the MQB platform which has previously been featured on other Volkswagen products. Featuring a longer wheelbase than the standard Tiguan, the Allspace has a much roomier cabin for both passengers and to carry more luggage than before. And as you can tell from the title, it now offers additional 3rd row of seats.

The Premium 7 seater is available in 7 colors as well. (INSERT “COINCIDENCE… I THINK NOT meme). The Tiguan Allspace is available with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 7 Speed DSG 4 motion Transmission.
It churns out 190 PS @ 4200 rpm and 320 NM of Peak torque at a range of 1500 all the way up to 4100 rpm, this all is under stricter EU regulations, and it also makes it much more fuel-efficient. This car can hold a volume of 340 litres of luggage which can be increased to almost four times at 1274 litres.

On the exterior front, it looks like a capable SUV with a muscular stance whilst also keeping its urban profile. This offers ample knee room and head-space on the inside while giving all the bells and whistles in a luxurious and quite appealing cabin. The car sits on R18 alloys and has LED ambient lighting. The front Grille is finished in chrome and blends well with the overall design. Although, we’d have definitely preferred diamond cut alloys.

The Dashboard and controls of the Tiguan are placed at an apt distance just at the reach of the driver’s fingertips. Digital Cockpit and infotainment system are thoughtfully designed. The Tiguan Allspace comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto as standard. Park assist is also included as a dash of intelligence, making it a breeze to park this beast in tight spots.

Volkswagen is renowned for its safety, and Tiguan Allspace is no different from this, it comes with ESP, ABS, EDL, 7 Airbags, ISOFIX mounts, to name a few.

Prices for All-new Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace starts at 33.12 Lakhs. Here’s a detailed look at pricing:

The Tiguan Allspace is the sibling to Skoda’s Kodiaq. Hence, it rivals the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endaevor, Mahindra Alturas G4 and of course the Skoda Kodiaq. Although, we reckon that it’s going to be a hard sell for VW. The Fortner sells because of it’s unbelievably low maintenance costs and it’s go anywhere capability. Not to forget that Toyota’s engine life suits the highway trippers a lot since, resale is a breeze. A VW is expensive to maintain when compared to the rest and it also sheds it’s value much quicker. Although, with the new youth crowd aiming to dive in proper SUV’s, we reckon that the price might just be enough to give a subtle boost to this car and to VW’s India project 2.0.
