What you should know about the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza!
For starters, it is expected to sport a 6-speed AT.
Launched in 2016, the Vitara Brezza has been the money-maker for MS ever since it first rolled off the production line. It was initially offered in a diesel-only guise, and only recently was it switched to petrol. However, with the sub-4m SUV segment now getting stronger and tougher, it is time for Maruti to come up with an updated version of the Brezza.
The said version is already in development and is expected to go live during the festive season. As mentioned above, the all-new Vitara Brezza will now boast a 6-speed AT, an upgrade from the existing 4-speed unit. The engine will remain the same – the K15B, 1.5L, petrol motor churning out 104bhp and 138Nm of torque.
The next-gen Brezza could also get wireless charging and the all-important sunroof, even though the company never wishes to fit one in any of its models. You just have to pay due regards to demand right? Oh! the laws of economics.
The upcoming Vitara Brezza is also expected to have 6 airbags, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and updated internet connected smart features. As a reminder, the current-gen has dual airbags, ABS with EBD, anti-theft security system, engine immobilizer, reverse parking sensor with infographic display, high speed warning alert, side impact protection beam, reverse parking camera, seat belt reminder and hill hold. The current gen Brezza is also the only Maruti car that has a 5 star GNCAP safety rating. That is more than any of the Hyundai models available in India.
There are even talks of Maruti launching the next-gen Vitara Brezza with its S-CNG tech which, let’s be honest, will make the Brezza look stronger in front of its rivals like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford Ecosport to name a few.
Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is also planning a return to the diesel motor, especially for those who want the additional torque. It is important to understand that Maruti already has a 1.5L, DDiS diesel motor but for it to be used by the next-gen Brezza, it first has to be updated to comply with BS6’s norms.
Furthermore, the next-gen Vitara Brezza will be based on the Heartect platform, same as Ertiga, XL6, Baleno, Dzire, Swift, WagonR and S-Presso, which offers a range of benefits like improved safety, better impact absorption, greater control and stability. More as we know it.
