2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 launched! Starts at INR 11.29 lakhs or Rs. 25.5k/month on subscription

Basically an upmarket and premium version of the Ertiga, this 6-seater is Maruti's direct rival to the Kia Carens.

Maruti Suzuki India have launched the all new XL6 at a price of Rs. 11.29 lakhs along with their new subscription scheme offering the car at Rs. 25,500/month. This new 2022 version comes with ventilated front seats, a new powertrain, 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and voice commands. The power train and the gearbox are the same as the Ertiga but it is the inside and features that are extra. The voice commands are activated by saying “Hey Suzuki” while connected car tech takes centre stage. There’s ESP and 4 airbags as standard along with a new 360-degree camera on offer.

Coming over to the new DualJet engine, the 1.5-litre DualJet engine also comes with start-stop technology and uses two injectors per cylinder. This means there is more control over fuel injections into the engine leading to better efficiency and smoother power. Putting out 103hp at around 6000 RPM and 136.8 NM of torque at 4400 RPM, around the same as before. Moreover, this engine is also used in the European Suzuki Vitara SUV but that is a full hybrid unit pushing out 148 HP. In India, Maruti Suzuki will not offer a full hybrid set-up just yet and justifiably so as this one isn’t meant for driving dynamics. This one is meant for luxurious drives and “plush indulgence.” Yet, the automatic transmission will supposedly offer performance with a wide range of shifts.

Coming over to features, the XL6 offers Captain’s Row 2nd row seat, UV cut glass, IR cut windscreen and front ventilated seats will offer the cooling much needed in the tropical environment of India. ESPECIALLY these days. The new Suzuki Connect has loads of customisation on offer, even the welcome screen can be customised. The new app is also smartwatch compatible and voice commands can be used via Suzuki Connect through Alexa. There is a 7″ Smartplay infotainment on offer which is smaller than the one offered on the new Baleno that has a 9″ screen. That seems strange that the old one is carried forward. But, there is a 360-degree camera, TPMS and the host of Suzuki connect features to compensate. The Tyre-Presure Monitoring System even has low pressure alert for specific tyres.

This XL6 is based on the HEARTECT platform while four airbags, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder, ESP with Hill Hold Assist, 2nd row ISOFIX and rear parking sensors are standard. The airbags are offered as standard only on the front and front curtain airbags and nothing for the rear passengers. Again, that is not up to the mark and is 2-less airbags than the Kia Carens. There’s a newly styled front grille and a new set of machine finished dual-tone alloy wheel design along with chrome garnish on the tailgate. Both the front and rear taillamps are LEDs while the rear ones are what Maruti call “3D LED taillamps.”

The new XL6 will now also be offered in an Alpha+ variant for customer customisation needs. There are 3-new dual tone colour options along with 6 monotone colours. Dualtone colours include Brown/black, Red/black and Silver/Black. The XL6’s pricing details are shown below. Maruti is also offering this car with their new subscription service allowing you to own it at only Rs. 25,500 per month! Maruti’s self made promise to offer cars to more and more people in India starts with this.
