This is the VW T-Cross – Nexon, Brezza rival officially teased!
Volkswagen India have teased their sub-compact SUV for India. This will be VW’s first car built on the MQB A0 IN platform.
The T-Cross will be available under Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. This will be the first car from VW group under Skoda’s India 2.0 project. Hence, the car will be launched by Skoda as well albeit minor design changes just what the Skoda Rapid was to the VW Vento.
The car will be revealed at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020. Not much is available for its design from the teaser but, it certainly follows the brand’s smart and sleek new design language. Certain websites have stated it to be a mid-size SUV rivalling the Creta/Seltos although, we expect it to be a sub-4 meter SUV. Hence, it would target the Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza. Moreover, the car is based on VW’s MQB A0 IN platform which is a shortened version of the MQB A0 compact platform, in order to fit within India’s sub-4 meter rules.
Kia had also teased their Kia Sonet sub-4m SUV along with Nissan and Renault. Maruti is also readying a facelift for the Vitara Brezza to be unveiled at the Auto Expo. Meanwhile, Tata unveiled their facelifted Nexon. Safe to say, India will see a flood of compact SUV’s which is very beneficial for the consumer. The global SUV trend is replicated in India too and all the car makers have taken a note of it.
