The 2022 Alfa Romeo C42 F1 car finally breaks cover!

The livery used in testing was just a temporary one- for here is the actual livery in all its glory.

Alfa Romeo has revealed their 2022 F1 contender, the C42 via a live stream. The team have gone with a striking new medley of red and white, which is a unique new take on their colour scheme which they have been using different variations of since 2018!

The team ran with a camo livery in testing, though reliability was a concern for the team considering that they were second from last in terms of mileage covered during Barcelona testing, only ahead of Haas. New driver Valtteri Bottas had a very tough time in testing, covering the least amount of laps of any driver in testing- something which both he and the team will be hoping changes by the end of the Bahrain test.

The team are the only one to have a brand new driver lineup, with ex-Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas and rookie Guanyu Zhou piloting the car this year. Alfa Romeo had a bad end to the 2021 season, finishing comfortably behind Williams and a distant P9 in the constructor’s championship. The Swiss team are in their 30th year in the sport, and the colour scheme of their car is reminiscent of the Swiss flag’s colours as has been a tradition for them.

The team will be hoping that 2022 is the year they return to the midfield at the least, though they need to sort out their reliability concerns first. The team’s reserve driver Robert Kubica also had a run on the very first day of the Barcelona test, but even he wasn’t given the liberty of getting too many laps in due to reliability concerns. Though the car looks stunning, what matters is how it performs out on track- something we should get an answer to soon enough!
