The VW Virtus will be officially unveiled on March 8th

The hype for what will likely be VW India's biggest launch of the year (unless the new Polo arrives) is running at an all-time high!

The Virtus is one of the most anticipated launches in recent past, and here’s some more news which is sure to raise the hype counter- the official reveal date has been confirmed to be on March 8th! The car will be manufactured and produced at VW’s Chakan plant near Pune, and is the successor to the ageing Vento. The images here are of the previous-gen Virtus; we should get fresh and new images soon enough!

The Virtus is a cousin car to the Skoda Slavia, which means that we will certainly see many styling cues shared between both cars. Underpinned by the MQB-AO-IN platform which is also seen on the Slavia, Kushaq and the Taigun. There will be parts shared with the Slavia, though there will certainly be differentiating factors while comparing both cars.

Everything else is an unknown, including the interior gizmo offerings and the engine power. However, going as per the Slavia’s engine options we can expect two engines- a 1.0L TSI and a 1.5L TSI. No variants are known either, and VW could also offer a more performance-specific version in the future. Can’t wait to see more of the Virtus?
