Skoda OCtavia RS245 super-sedan arrives at Rs. 36 lakh! – Limited to 200 units

The Skoda Octavia RS (vRS) is a model that is capable of going from 0-100kmph within 6.6 seconds and can reach a peak speed of 250kmph. The improved version of the sports sedan, RS 245 format, has been launched by the brand at the Auto Expo 2020.

The RS 245 version comes with a 2.0 liter TSI petrol engine. This is coupled with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Power is slated at 242BHP along with a torque of 370NM. There is an electronic slip differential which will direct all the power to the front wheels. This model comes with a 6-speed specification too in certain foreign markets as well.

Skoda India has a grand strategy in place to launch the RS 245 at approximately ₹36 lakhs with only 200 units being allotted for the Indian market. That means it will be available for around Rs. 40 lakh on the road! Gulp!

Now, with only 200 units being allocated for the market, it is expected that the consumers who are eager for this model will definitely be queuing up to book one for themselves. The previous model was extremely quick to become one of the best sellers and the brand is expecting the same results from this new version. Skoda India used this Auto Expo platform to gauge the interests of the audience. It is hugely possible that the units will get sold out within a matter of a few days.

The new model comes with two types of engine options. There’s the 1.8 liter TSI petrol engine and the even more popular 2.0 liter TDi Diesel engine. Even though this model will not be available for consumption for the next couple of months, the BS6 model will be made available for Indian market consumption towards the end of this year. Around the same time the brand will introduce the face lifted Skoda Superb.

Even though the RS 245 doesn’t feel much different from the RS 230, the price of the RS 230 was quite lower than this version. It was mainly because the previous model was locally assembled but this new one is strictly a CBU. The other additional charges are the ground clearance and 18-inch alloy wheels (5-spoke).

Coming back to the previous model, it will suffer a hit in the coming months. This model isn’t BS6 compliant and given that the company has no plans of upgrading this model, the sales units will suffer following April 1st, 2020.
