[dropcap]A[/dropcap]nother cat with new furs out of the Jaguar’s den! Jaguar Land Rover India launched the 2021 Velar on June 16. The price for the new updated SUV now starts at Rs 79.87 lakh (ex-showroom, India). JLR says the SUV is cleaner, safer and smarter than ever before and is one of the most technologically advanced luxury SUVs in the world. Velar is available in the R-Dynamic S trim with the Ingenium 2.0-litre petrol and diesel powertrains. The TATA owned brand informed that the deliveries of the new Range Rover Velar have already commenced, and customers can book the SUV online by visiting its official purchase website “www.findmeasuv.in”.

The 2021 Jaguar Land Rover Velar is available with two engine options, both 2-litre four-cylinder units. The petrol engine still delivers a power of 245 hp and 365 Nm of torque while the diesel unit churns out an updated output of 201 hp over the 2019 model’s 180 hp, but the torque delivery remains the same at 430 Nm. Velar offers Torque-on-demand All Wheel Drive (AWD), Terrain Response 2 and a host of other driver assistance functionalities.

The overall design of the new SUV seems unchanged and comes with the same upright stance. Like the previous edition, the new Velar has its own unique elements like burnished copper bumper accents, bonnet vents and side vents. The front features the familiar premium LED headlights with signature LED DRLs. The side has a flowing waistline that leads up to a tapered rear. Another notable element here is the flush door handles on the doors. The rear has the same fully LED lights and integrated rear spoiler. The whole frame sits on 20-inch wheels, and JLR also offers a full-size spare wheel with the SUV.

The refreshed Velar comes with new features such as 3D Surround Camera, Electronic Air Suspension, Cabin Air Ionisation with PM2.5 filter and a new Pivi Pro infotainment system. Other features carried over from the last-gen Velar includes Activity Key, Wi-Fi and Pro Services, Meridian Sound System (380W), Four-zone Climate Control, Premium Leather interiors and Park Assist.

Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India, said, “Range Rover Velar is one the most aspirational SUVs in India because of its peerless blend of avant-garde design, luxury and technology. In its latest avatar, with the introduction of new technology and convenience features, the Range Rover Velar has become more desirable than ever”

The Velar was first introduced in India in December 2017 with a price tag of Rs 78.83. Then in 2019, the SUV got a significant price cut when Jaguar launched the ‘Made-in-India’ Velar starting at Rs 72.47 lakh (ex-showroom). The third generation of the Land Rover Velar is available at all 28 JLR authorized outlets in 24 cities.

Other products in the brand’s India line-up includes the Range Rover Evoque (starting at Rs 59.04 Lakh), Discovery Sport (starting at Rs 65.30 Lakh), Defender 110 (starting at Rs 83.38 Lakh), Range Rover Sport (starting at Rs 91.27 Lakh) and Range Rover (starting at Rs 210.82 Lakh).
