MG adds Shine variant in its Hector line-up

This new mid variant is slotted between Hector's Super and Smart trims.

MG Motor India has launched a new trim for its Hector SUV called Shine, at a price range of ₹14,51,800 and ₹16,49,800 (ex-showroom). With the addition of this new trim, MG Hector is now available in five trim options – Style, Super, Shine, Smart and Sharp. Hector Shine is the mid variant and is slotted between Hector’s Super and Smart variants. With Shine, MG has not only widened Hector range but has also made its automatic variant more accessible than before by offering the option of CVT automatic with a petrol engine on this new variant. Previously, Hector was available with an automatic gearbox on Smart and top-end Sharp variants only. The automatic Hector Shine petrol CVT is priced at ₹15,71,800 (ex-showroom).

In terms of design, the MG Hector Shine is the same as the outgoing trims of the SUV. However, Shine gets a distinctive Havana Grey exterior paint theme. Mechanically too, the MG Hector Shine is the same as other trims – the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and 2.0-litre turbo diesel motor. The petrol unit makes 141 bhp with 250 Nm and can be had with a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel motor, on the other hand, develops 168 bhp and 350 Nm. MG Hector Shine diesel is available with a six-speed manual gearbox only.

MG will offer a curated accessories package with the new Hector Shine model. The package includes add-on features like seat covers, sun shades, wireless mobile charger, air purifier, 3D mats and steering wheel covers.

Other standard features include a 10.4-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Hinglish voice command, dual-tone interior theme, single-pane sunroof, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, electric parking brake, front parking sensors, electronic stability programme, traction control system, hill-hold control, all four disc brakes, reverse parking camera, rear parking sensors, rear defogger, LED headlamps with DRLs, alloy wheels, cruise control, height-adjustable driver seat, etc.

MG is offering the Hector Shine with the MG 5-5-5 Shield package. Under the scheme, the SUV will get 5 years of unlimited-kilometre warranty, 5 years of roadside assistance and no labour charges for the first 5 scheduled vehicle services.

MG Motor India launched the Hector SUV, its first product in the Indian market back on August 12, 2019. The Chinese owned Brtish brand said it is celebrating the second anniversary of the Hector in the Indian market with the introduction of the Shine trim. MG has sold more than 60,000 units of Hector SUV in India since its launch.
