Skoda has unveiled the updated design for the 2022 Karoq, which involves a slightly changed exterior, a few tweaks to the interior and improved engine efficiency. It’s the first update to the car since it’s launch in 2017, and could help rejuvenate sales for the car.
The car is Skoda’s second best-selling model after the Octavia, and it’s best-selling SUV. With that in mind, Skoda has changed up the front of the car a but, with a new redesigned butterfly grille, slimmer LED headlamps and a revamped front bumper design for better aerodynamics. The wheels are 17″, which make for a smooth driving experience.
On the inside, the car is now equipped with a 8″ all-digital instrument cluster, and a 8″ to 9″ touchscreen depending on the variant. Skoda’s two-spoke steering also makes an appearance, and so do various driver aids like pedestrian protection, cruise control, traffic light recognition among others. There is also an “Eco” pack available, which sees the car built with sustainable materials like vegan leather and microsuede.
The engine options are varied, with 3 petrol options in the form of a 115HP 1.0L TSI, a 150HP 1.5L TSI, and a 190HP 2.0L TSI. As for the diesel variants, there are 2 options available- a a 2.0L TDI with either 116HP or 150HP depending on the variant. A 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG is also available as options on all but the base 115HP petrol model. Efficiency has been worked on by Skoda, and the car is now more efficient than it previously was.
An India launch would be unlikely, considering how the company is planning to focus on the locally-produced models in the form of the Kushaq and the upcoming Slavia, with a possible launch for the Enyaq iV as well sometime next year. Also, considering how the Karoq was only brought in limited numbers and soon discontinued, an India launch does not seem to be a possibility!
