A few weeks ago, we learnt that Skoda had started production of the new Kodiaq had started at Skoda’s Aurangabad facility. The Kodiaq will launch in 3 variants- Style, Sportline and L&K, and wil be launched on January 10th. It will be the first time the Sportline variant is offered here in the Indian market, as the last iteration of the Kodiaq had the Style and L&K variant available when the car was last sold here up until 2 years ago.
The Sportline will get a black grille, roof rails and interior upholstery, an integrated spoiler and black alloys. As can be expected, the top of the line L&K variant will be loaded with features, like a 10.25″ digital instrument cluster , climate control, a sunroof, parking sensors, and more. Whether Skoda offers the old 8″ or the globally available new 9.2″ infotainment screen remains to be seen; our guess would be that the bigger screen would be reserved for the L&K variant if it were to be brought here.
Power wise, the Kodiaq will be thrust forward by a single petrol engine, which produces 190HP/320NM, and will be paired with a 7-speed DSG and AWD will be standard on the car. Rivals could be in the form of the Tiguan, C5 Aircross and possibly the upcoming Jeep Commander/Meridian, though that depends on the price, which could be anywhere from Rs 37-40 lakh. With just 5 days to go until its launch, let’s wait and see what comes of it!
