Fresh Mini launches in India: An updated MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI Convertible, and the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW)

The trio is powered by a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and now gets enhanced updates on the outside as well as the inside.

MINI India has launched the new 2021 MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI Convertible, and the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) in India. The new MINI range will be available only in petrol engines and arrives here as Completely Built-up Units (CBUs). The all-new MINI 3-Door Hatch is priced at ₹38 lakh, the MINI Convertible at Rs 44 lakh and the MINI John Cooper Works Hatch at ₹45.5 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

“This significantly strengthens the exceptional position of MINI within the premium small car segment in India,” BMW Group India President Vikram Pawah said in a statement.

MINI has updated all three cars with the latest technology expected out of cars in the premium compact car segment in India. The all-new range has got an intensive makeover, an enhanced standard profile and a simplified offer structure.

Talking of the all-new MINI 3-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible, both of them flaunts a hexagonal radiator grille on the nose flanked by the hallmark round MINI LED headlights. The fog lights are integrated with the LED headlights. The new air intakes are vertically integrated at the edges of the bumper and claimed to increase aerodynamics. The LED side indicators are integrated into the redesigned side scuttles. At the back, the fog light is integrated into the rear apron as a narrow LED unit.

The MINI 3-Door Hatch and the MINI Convertible will be available in four new colours – Rooftop Grey metallic, Island Blue metallic, Enigmatic Black and Zesty Yellow (only for MINI Convertible). Additionally, the new Multitone Roof has a unique colour gradient from San Marino Blue through Pearly Aqua to Jet Black.The contrasting colours for the roof and exterior mirror caps enhance the overall look of the car.

There are 17-inch light-alloy wheels available as standard for the MINI 3-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible. These include Light Alloy Wheels Roulette Spoke-Two-Tone, Light Alloy Wheels Tentacle Spoke-Black, Light Alloy Wheels Rail Spoke-Two-Tone.

Talking of the new MINI John Cooper Works, the external facia has a new hexagonal honeycomb pattern radiator grille with a red stripe above the number plate. The exclusive John Cooper Works bonnet stripes also add a distinctively race-inspired look. For enhanced aerodynamic, the front apron comes with integrated air ducts, side sills that ensure uninterrupted driving dynamics. The frame sits on exclusive 18-inch John Cooper Works Course Spoke 2-tone wheels with Track Spoke-Black.

The new MINI 3-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible are powered by the latest MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology for outstanding performance and fuel efficiency. The 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo Technology churns out a peak output of 192 hp/141 kW and a maximum torque of 280 Nm at 1,350 – 4,600 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/hr sprint timing for the MINI 3-Door Hatch stands at 6.7 seconds while the MINI Convertible takes 7.1 seconds for the same.

While the MINI John Cooper Works is also powered by the same 2-litre TwinPower Turbo engine, mobilising a peak output of 231 hp/170 kW and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1,450 – 4,800 rpm. The fastest of the trio, the JCW can hit 100 km/hr in just 6.1seconds. For transmission, while the MINI 3-Door Hatch and Convertible has an option of a 7-Speed Double Clutch Steptronic Transmission, there’s an 8-Speed Steptronic Sport Transmission on the MINI JCW Hatch.

Inside the cabin, the new MINI 3-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible come with two new standard upholstery options – Cloth-Leatherette combination in Black Pearl Light Chequered and Black Pearl Carbon Black. The seats get 100 percent recycled material for their surfaces in Light Chequered design while the Leatherette Carbon Black is available as a standard option.

Moreover, bits like an 8.8-inch colour touchscreen display, touch-sensitive favourite buttons and Piano Black high-gloss surfaces are now standard features. The audio control unit and the function buttons for hazard warning lights and driver assistance systems have now been integrated into the circular control unit.

There is also an optional 5-inch multifunctional instrument display on the steering column that gives the driver’s cockpit a new look and feel. There’s an optional MINI Wired Package now that comes with a navigation system, wireless charging and also, enhanced Bluetooth mobile preparation. Moreover, the multifunctional instrument display comes as standard with MINI Wired Package. Other infotainment options include Apple CarPlay, MINI Radio Visual Boost + MINI Navigation or with Wired Package, and Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi sound system.

Being part of the BMW Group, safety is totally ensured in the new Mini-Series with features including front passenger airbags, 3-Point Seat Belts, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System, Crash Sensor, Cornering Brake Control, Run-flat tyres and Rear-View Camera as standard. MINI has also embedded a Rollover Protection System on the MINI Convertible for additional safety.

The German automaker informed that the test drives and bookings have already commenced at all MINI authorised Dealers and the MINI Online Shop.
