Mahindra Thar NFT will fund Project Nanhi Kali that supports the education of underprivileged girls

If you are in the same league as me and despise the concept of NFTs, I have some news for you. These NFTs have usually been what anyone would think “useless pieces of digital art.” For starters, Jack Dorsey sold his first ever tweet for $2.9 million. And no that tweet is not exclusive to the buyer, you and I can look at it and take a print out whenever we want so, I hope you understand where our distasteful disposition for NFTs comes from. Although, any normal income earner would consider every modern art painting ever sold for millions as “useless.” The difference lies in the fact that NFTs are not exclusive to the buyer and can be owned by anyone. The transaction of an NFT lies in the blockchain which is like a digital ledger and there in lies the value of the validity of the owner who actually bought the NFT. I guess some people need to park their money somewhere!

Anyway, Mahindra & Mahindra have become the first Indian auto-maker to launch an NFT and with it have started this trend in India as well. The first NFT offerings from Mahindra will be based on the Thar off-roader and will be released in collaboration with Tech Mahindra. This first-ever series comprises of four NFTs that will be put up for sale via an auction starting the 29^th of March 2022, on Tech Mahindra’s NFT marketplace christened ‘Mahindra Gallery’. All in all, picture a special image of the Thar maybe taken from a PR shoot and being sold as an NFT. But, the difference is that M&M being the philanthropists they are, will use the proceeds from this sale towards Project Nanhi Kali, to support the education of underprivileged girls in India. “Access to education helps the girl child in fulfilling her dreams and lays the foundation for an equal society”, Mahindra said.

The Thar experience doesn’t end with just buying an NFT. The winners of the auction will be invited to the Mahindra Adventure Off-road Driver Training Academy (Igatpuri, Maharashtra) or to the new state-of-the-art Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT, Chennai), to experience the thrill of 4×4 motoring. The unveil and auction for the first Thar NFT will take place on 29th March 2022 on https://auto.mahindra.com/suv/thar/nft starting at 11:00 A.M.
