Honda City Hybrid to launch in India on April 14th

This will be the first launch by Honda India in almost two years, the last one being the Honda Jazz back in August 2020.

Honda India is gearing up to launch the hybrid City on 14th of April this year. The car was globally launched back in August 2020, but is only now coming to India and that too without the sporty “RS” badge the hybrid was unveiled under. The car will get Honda Sensing tech and also i-MMD hybrid technology.

Power-wise, it will have an output of 98HP/127NM from the 1.5L petrol engine with an Atkinson Cycle petrol engine, and to supplement it there will be two electric motors, which bring the combined power output to 109HP/253NM of power. It is assumed that there will be an option to toggle between driving modes and the choice will be given to the driver as to drive only on hybrid power or petrol power or a combination of both.

The rest of the spec sheet remains the same as the top-end VX model with features like a sunroof, infotainment system, mobile phone connectivity, ambient lighting and more though it is assumed that there will be some new feature on the inside to add to the car’s appeal. The pricing has not been revealed but could be in the ballpark upwards of Rs 17 lakh. What is certain is that the car will be heavier than the current model and could also have slightly reduced boot space as compensation for the electric motors and batteries.
