THIS is the brand new V12 Vantage Roadster: A true Aston-esque open top fun!

The open-top version of the coveted V12 Vantage Roadster breaks covers in California.

Aston Martin have introduced the brand new V12 Vantage Roadster making it the most powerful Vantage ever produced. This production-spec model will be limited to only 249 units and could also be one of the last V12 Roadsters from Aston given how the future seems to be EV or at the least, hybrid. As one can expect, all of the 249 units have already been secured by their owners even before the release of the vehicle.

For the first time ever, Aston Martin has fit in a 5.2L twin-turbo V12 motor in a Vantage Roadster, giving the vehicle nearly 700 hp and 753 Nm of torque. The engine is linked to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. This gives the car a quick 0-60mph launch of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 200mph. The power is directed to the rear wheels through a mechanical LSD with the adaptive software continuously analyzing the driver’s inputs and providing the appropriate feedback in return. Apart from this, the vehicle comes wide-track suspension systems, a decent aero package and carbon ceramic brakes as standard.

To compensate for the weight of the widebody styling, Aston Martin has gone several steps ahead to reduce weight of the car wherever possible. The carbon ceramic brakes save around 23 kg. The front bumper and bonnet, fenders and side sills are all made from carbon fibre and the rear bumper and the deck lid are made from lightweight composite material. A lightweight battery and centre-mounted twin exhaust also help reduce another 7.2 kg. Along with the aero package, the Vantage Roadster gets a dynamic functional rear wing, also a standard.

Design Appeal

Aston Martin is well-known to build cars for their enjoyable experience, that is provide fast cars, but also not compromise on comfort. With the new Roadster, they have made certain that this trend does not fall out. Buyers are spoilt for choice for the body paint color and surface texture. This is managed by the bespoke Q division of the brand which specifies upon customization. The Sports Plus variants comes with semi-aniline leather seats as standard. Carbon-fibre performance seats also come as an option to the customers interested in higher performance.

In terms of styling, the car looks sleek and fabulous, with all of its accents filling in on all sides. The generic Aston Martin style headlights and taillights retain the brand’s visual appeal. Overall the vehicle is even more accentuated by the large 21″ alloy wheels, which are offered in two finishes- satin black or satin black diamond turned. Lightweight options for these finishes are also offered to buyers, which saves another 8 kg.

The V12 is set for production in Q3 of 2022 with expected first deliveries by the end of this year.
