Red Bull in talks with Honda on a possible F1 reunion!

Helmut Marko has claimed that Red Bull and Honda are in talks over a reunion, but they have decide to have the same stance that they had with Porsche, respecting Red Bull’s “DNA” is key.

Red Bull is taking an advantage of the situation as the Japanese manufacturer have recently recovered from an  unsuccessful stint with McLaren. Red Bull assigned to power to their junior team Toro Rosso in 2018.

The partnership was considered worthy enough for Red Bull to also take on the Honda power unit, which in 2021 powered Max Verstappen to his first World Championship.

In the end of that season, Honda decided to withdraw from Formula 1 as they were decisive to focus their projects to keep carbon neutrality in mind.

Honda and Red Bull have not completely disconnected with bussines, with Red Bull’s power units are being built at Honda’s base. There is also a deal they have placed for Honda to keep providing their technical support until the end of the 2025 season.

After that Red Bull plans to use their own Powertrains. The new power unit division of RedBull will work effectively as the new regulations would come into effect from 2026.

Red Bull was in talks with German Manufacturer Porsche for starting a partnership which could not fall throught because Porsche presently intended to gain a 50% stake in Red Bull Technologies.

The Red Bull advisor and driver programme chair Marko has revealed that talks are ongoing with Honda, who are interested in an official return. Red Bull are still stern that they are not interested in compromising their independence.

“For the electric part, we don’t have all the knowledge yet, said by Marko about Red Bull Powertrains’ progress to ORF as he added ”but we already have contacts to become stronger in this too.” We are on our own and can do everything independently. However, we are also open to cooperation, to reduce costs for Red Bull as per Motorsport.com.
