BREAKING: The 2023 Chinese Grand Prix has been officially cancelled!
Formula 1 is constantly assessing alternative options to replace the Chinese GP weekend with somewhere else.
Formula 1 has confirmed, following dialogue with the promoter and relevant Chinese authorities, that the 2023 Chinese Grand Prix will not take place due to the ongoing difficulties presented by the COVID-19 situation. Formula 1 is currently working to replace the cancelled venue with one of the other venues that have been long standing and not been utilized. Or maybe there are two GPs like there have been before but, if we’re to believe any rumors, the South African GP has shot to the top of the list of replacements thanks to 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton’s popularity in the region and his constant push for a race weekend in the country. That brings me to India as well.
F1 took a sudden exit as Vettel claimed another championship in India in 2013 and there hasn’t been any update for the barren and unused Buddh International Circuit. Well, now that we are having MotoGP at the circuit in 2023 and a Formula E race on the streets of Hyderabad, India does seem to be garnering attention as well. Let’s hope sooner than later, it becomes a reality.
