Shahrukh Khan unveils the all new Hyundai Creta at Auto Expo 2020
Hyundai has finally given its fans a first look of the next generation Creta at the Auto Expo 2020. Not only that, the brand’s ambassador, Shahrukh Khan was present to do the reveal himself.
Since the launch in 2015, the sales unit of the Creta is over 4.5 lakhs and 1.9 lakhs units overseas. Now, the brand is back with a next-generation model that has a futuristic design that complements the new design language of the company.
This new model was first revealed at the Shanghai Motor show in 2019 with the nameplate ix25. Now, considering that the previous model had an overwhelming response from the Indian market, it is now expected that the new model with a better design structure will receive a better response.
Even though we expected a considerable change, that has not been the case. The new design only includes a modified grill design and certain tweaks to the front and rear designs. Apart from this, there are no major changes in the overall shape. The kink behind the rear window and other subtle elements in design have certainly made it look modern
The front grille of the model now has increased chrome. The headlamps have been replaced by split LED units. The two-piece tail lights have been designed to complement the upfront elements but it ended up looking off and out of place to us.So, now given that the Indian audience has always preferred looks, there’s no guarantee on how they will react to this design.
However, the new model does come with a fresh design for the dashboard and a prominent center console display. The ix25’s interior will be carried over for the Indian model. Hence, it will feature a 10.25inch portrait iPad like infotainment with a fully digital MID. Improvements have also been made to the color themes, steering wheels, panoramic roof, and materials as well. The 2020 version of the model will be an improved version of the existing platform. In fact, it’ll have a similar 7-seater option like the Tata Harrier of the MG Hector.
This crossover model is expected to be launched with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol engine, a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5 liter Diesel engine. The transmission options include DSG, Automatic, and Manual. If not the exteriors, at least the gear systems are coming with options.
The previous model of Creta made its entrance in 2015 and since then has been enjoying growing popularity. However, now models such as Kia Seltos are catching up quickly with sales reaching 15,000 units in January 2020 making it India’s No.1 Selling SUV. Therefore, Hyundai has to give it everything it has to make the new model as popular as the old one.
The new Creta is expected to arrive in March this year and its price would range between 11 lakh to 17 lakh INR.
