BMW have officially announced the upcoming BMW i7 all-electric luxury saloon to be unveiled on April 20th. This launch is one day after the Mercedes Benz EQS SUV will be unveiled globally and a week after Mercedes’ EQE officially went on sale. The German push towards luxury EVs first is a great way to do business in the grand scheme of things. Current tech for EVs allows for high pricing and higher profits on these vehicles as these companies try to recover their R&D costs. This is leveraged on the fact that most people buying a vehicle in this segment won’t look twice at the pricing. A win-win for both!
Say what you will but the Mercedes EQS isn’t exactly a looker. Especially in front of something like a Porsche Taycan, Audi E-tron GT or the Tesla Model S. Same goes with the Mercedes EQE which is a supposed direct competitor. With BMW though, things might change. BMW has always been about being sleek, minimalist and functional while not losing out on the presence. The same will hopefully be maintained. Keep a look out for the launch coverage on April 20th 2022 at 6:00 P.M. IST.
