BMW launches the all-electric i4 in India! Starts at Rs 69.90 lakh

BMW's latest all-electric offering has 590KMS of autonomy on a single charge- the highest in India as of now!

BMW have launched the all-electric i4 in India with a single variant on offer, and prices for it start from Rs 69.9 lakh. The sole variant on offer is called the eDrive40, and deliveries for the car are expected to start in the next few months with the car bring brought in via the CBU route to the country.

The car’s biggest selling point is likely the battery- and for good reason as well! BMW has put an 83.9kWh battery in the car which produces 335HP/430NM of power, with 0-100 taking a mere 5.7 seconds as well. However, the mains elling point is the battery’s range and charging speed- for the battery can be charged with a 205kWh charger which will give almost 160KM of range after just 10 minutes of charging! BMW is also including a traditional wall charger with a charging speed of 11kW, which will fully charge the car in about 8.5 hours. As stated previously, the range is an enormous 590KM, the highest of any luxury EV in the country as of now.

The car’s design retains most of the elements of the standard 4-series, but there are elements which ascertain the vehicle’s electric nature. The grille is closed off as there is no engine which needs to be cooled, however behind the grille layer there are various sensors which provide the car’s systems with realtime data. There are also LED headlamps, LED DRLs, 17″ alloys and reprofiled front and rear bumpers which have been adapted specifically for the i4.

On the inside, comfort and luxury is matched with safety as well. There is a 12.3″ instrument cluster and a 14.9″ touchscreen infotainment system for the driver and passengers’ convenience, and also climate control, a sunroof, Harman Kardon speakers, wireless charging and more.
On the safety front, there are 6 airbags, ESP, TPMS and more which ensure a smooth ride. The i4 does not have any real competitors, and hence based on the pricing it will have the upcoming Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 as competition.
