After months of teasing consumers, Mahindra & Mahindra finally unveiled their project Born Electric Vision and their plans to implement their innovation in the Electric SUV sector of the market.
In a grand premiere held in Banbury, UK, headed by the tops of the company including Anand Mahindra himself, 5 new prototypes of electric SUVs were revealed. In a elaborative webcast, the company introduced two new brands, XUV and BE, and a brand new Modular Scalable Design Platform, INGLO.
New INGLO Platform
It was revealed that the revolutionary INGLO platform, which would be a common base adapted accordingly for different vehicles will be the backbone of this project. The INGLO platform boasts of a battery capacity range of 60-80 kWh, fast-charging capabilities of 175 kW which will be able to charge a vehicle up to 80% in less than 30 minutes. The platform enables a power generation capabilities of 170 kW for Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and a total of 250 kW for All Wheel Drive (AWD). It also claims to be able to give a 0-100kmph time of less than 6 seconds! Going further, it promises efficiency and ease of drivability by providing zero drag wheel bearings, active suspension systems, Brake-by-wire, Computer Neural Network for analysis and the already established Level 2 ADAS.
New Electric SUV lineup
For the XUV brand, two prototypes were introduced, the XUV.E8 and XUV.E9. For the BE brand, 3 new prototypes were unveiled, namely the BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09.
Along with this launched, M&M also inaugurated their new design facility, Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) at Banbury, Oxfordshire. They also announced an important collaboration with the Volkswagen group for supply of electric components to increase growth in the Indian electric automotive market.
