Pratap Bose teases upcoming Mahindra XUV500! Grand Vitara, Creta rival to unveil at Auto Expo?
The Chief of Design at Mahindra, Pratap Bose has teased a glimpse of the upcoming XUV500 and the car world is in a frenzy.
The upcoming Mahindra XUV500 has been teased by chief of design, Pratap Bose and the silhouette seems to suggest a C-Segment SUV rivalling the Grand Vitara and Creta. This new XUV500 could very well be unveiled at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo and launch is likely to happen within the first half of 2023. In fact, some sources believe that the Auto Expo 2023 might see the launch in itself but we’re not that far away from it so we’ll wait it out.
Coming over to the expectations with this new SUV, features like a sunroof, new Mahindra tech with AdrenoX OS, large touchscreens and a very similar interior and exterior to the XUVV700 are all highly likely. You can expect it to look like a smaller and more stylish version of the XUV700 as it is going to be competing with the upcoming Creta which is also expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo. Mahindra might try to go the way that Tata and Hyundai have i.e. what Harrier and Creta are to the Safari and Alcazar respectively, the XUV500 will act to the XUV700.
Safety and performance is also something we can expect from the recent Mahindra vehicles which have all been excellent in both these segments. The XUV500 could come with a renewed 1.5L diesel powertrain currently seen in the XUV300 so as to make it compliant with the Phase-II norms of BS6. A 161HP turbo petrol engine could also power this new XUV500 but most importantly, this could very well be offered in an EV variant as well or if not launched, an EV variant of this XUV500 is likely to be showcased at the Auto Expo.
