Since auto designer Ian Callum( formerly Jaguar’s) was not completely satisfied with the original 2001 Vanquish, he decided it’s finally time to redo it. This would go on to include 350+ styling, engineering and material changes from the former one. It will be a limited edition with only 25 units being made. Each car will come with a price tag of approximately £550,000 but customers can also choose to upgrade their existing Vanquish for about £450,000. The project will be the first to be undertaken by Callum’s new designing firm named after the design boss himself.
Upgrades have been made to the V12 engine to boost its hp to 580, originally it was about 520. You can also take your pick of either a manual, automatic or semi-automatic gearbox.
Interior upholstery has also been replaced with The Bridge of Weir Leather Company. Other changes have been made to the side-mirrors and steering to add a more modern look. The fog lamps have been taken out to make space for bigger air scoops owing to the larger carbon-ceramic brakes. In terms of measurements, the ride height has been lowered by 100mm and the track widened by 600mm.
Externally other than new design lines and mirrors, the ‘new’ Vanquish sports expensive LED taillights. The Vanquish 25 will run on Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and will be available in various body colours in addition to eight bespoke trim colours. Don’t forget the 3 bespoke 20in wheel options.
Callum seems more than satisfied with these tweaks to his original brainchild. To be honest, the car does actually sit with a better stance and sportier attributes now. Alongside technical and performance improvements, the new Vanquish may end up being true to its name. Productions and rebuilding will be made at Callum’s new workshops in Warwick. Deliveries are expected to be completed by the year’s end.
