This has happened after a very long time that General Motors has come out with a brand-new identity. As the automotive world heads towards the era of electrification, GM has made sure that it too, does the same. They have revealed their new logo. And this step is their way to show GM’s ideology to shift towards EVs, all in line with its comprehensive efforts to push for mass adoption of EVs.
The new logo features vibrant blue tones, reflecting the clean skies of a zero-emissions future and the energy of the Ultium platform. As per the carmaker, “The rounded edges and lower-case font create a more modern, inclusive feel. The underline of the ‘m’ connects to the previous GM logos as well as visually representing the Ultium platform. And within the negative space of the ‘m’ is a nod to the shape of an electrical plug.” Clever design, GM.
“There are moments in history when everything changes. We believe it’s time for the mass adoption of electric vehicles,” said Deborah Wahl, GM Global Chief Marketing Officer. “Unlike ever before, we have the solutions, capability, technology, and scale to put everyone in an EV. Our new brand identity and campaign are designed to reflect this.”
General Motors has also released the ‘Everybody In’ campaign which conveys its evolving brand identity as it transforms itself to deliver a vision that creates a world with zero crashes, emissions, and congestion. The campaign focuses on the following three themes:
- A new generation of buyers and pushing for EV adoption
- Highlighting GM’s EV leadership, including the investment of $27 billion in EV and AV products through 2025 and the launches of 30 new EVs globally by the end of 2025
- Showcasing the range, performance, and flexibility of the Ultium platform
Talking about the Ultium platform, it will form the foundation for GM’s next-generation of EVs, powering everything from mass-market to high-performance vehicles, including the GMC Hummer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq. The platform is also set to be capable of delivering an EV that can go up to 450 miles on a full charge, while powering EVs of many sizes and shapes, and will be fast enough to do a 0-100kph performance in as little as three seconds for some of its models.
GM has also set a target for its EV models – selling more than one million EVs each year in North America and China, by the middle of this decade. Judging by how invested they are in this move, there is little-to-no doubt about them reaching this goal. The Detroit carmaker pledges to inspire its buyers; the world, and it’s safe to say, they are on the verge of doing just that!
