Tata Motors’ March 2021 car sales sees a record 422% growth!
The last time something similar to this happened, India won the World Cup.
Anybody in the Indian auto industry can confirm without any evidence that 2020 was perhaps one of the worst years for sales. So much so, that nobody managed to find the motivation and hope for the following year to be a better one. Well, except for Tata Motors. The irony is that Tata had never performed this good when everyone else flourished.
Owing to its best-sellers in Altroz, Nexon, and Tiago, Tata Motors have taken control of the No.3 position after a gap of 9 long years. We only have Tata’s determination, top-notch quality and of course their 5 star GNCAP safety ratings to compliment this massive achievement. On to the data now. Moreover, it comes as no surprise to me. The Altroz, Nexon and the Tiago are the best offerings currently in their segment. Especially considering their value for money prospect. I mean Hyundai don’t seem to be in a clear state of mind for pricing the new i20 at almost Rs.12 lakh on-road. You take one look at the faux Audi ‘inspired’ (read copied) interiors and you don’t want to pay even 9 lakh for it. The Altroz on the other hand is a stunning thing.
Tata’s March 2021 sales figures stood at 29,654 units, as opposed to 5,676 units from March 2020, hence a 422.45% growth to be precise. Similarly, the MoM growth stands at just under 9%. The all-new Safari and the brilliantly-packaged Harrier, along with the Tigor, all are too, responsible for the huge success, the Indian carmaker is currently having.
“The PV industry witnessed a strong growth in Q4 FY21 on a low base with robust demand for personal mobility and new launches driving demand. Tata Motors PV Business posted its highest ever sales in 9-years, in March 21 and Q4 FY21″ – Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd.
Furthermore, in the EV segment, Tata Motors have been showing the industry why its Nexon EV, is the highest selling EV in the market – 4,219 Nexon EVs were sold in FY21, while in March 2021 alone, Tata sold 705 units, and since its launch in January 2020, the Nexon EV has crossed its milestone of 4,000 units with flying colors.
One thing is for certain – the sales for Tata Motors are only going to get stronger because people have now realized as to how much work and effort, the people at Tata have put in and judging by the figures, it is working, too!
