The X3 has made a lot of people happy, because going by the amount of space, comfort, luxury, sportiness, and quality it offers, it is a given that the X3 is one of the best-selling models for BMW. To pay respect to that factor, Munich has a facelift version of the SUV in mind. So then, what does a refreshed model bring to the table? We find out…
At the front, the updated 2022 X3 boasts a blacked-out kidney grille which appears to be smaller in size with the two separate units now joined at the center. The headlights seem to be more angular and mirror those found in the second-gen 4 Series Coupe.
Additionally, there are several blacked-out elements like the wide central air intake on the lower bumper and black inserts on the foglamp housings. The headlights too have a dark tint while the registration plate housing is finished in black. At the back, the same, wraparound 3D LED taillights are present, with smoked effects and black inserts.
The rear bumper features a black skid plate and twin exhaust pipes with gloss black surroundings. To further add, there are new black alloy wheels, shark-fin antenna, all-black roof-rails, black inserts on both the sides of the tailgate, and blacked-out mirrors with integrated turn indicators. With the amount of black bits going around the 2022 X3’s body, one can only guess that this is the top-spec M40i variant in question.
As for the interior, no images were leaked, unfortunately, but being a Bimmer, expect the refreshed X3 to sport the same-old luxurious, top-notch quality, comfortable interior. An updated infotainment unit, new steering wheel design, and upholstery are also expected.
The 2022 X3 will be offered in two variants – the xDrive 30i and the xDrive 30d. The former has a twin-turbo, 2.0L, Petrol motor producing just shy of 250bhp and 350Nm of torque. For the diesel-burner, there is a 2.0L unit making 187bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to an 8-speed Steptronic AT.
The top-of-the-line M40i spec will also see an update but the power output is likely to remain at 388bhp and 500Nm of torque from its 3.0L, turbo-petrol, in-line-6 motor. Similarly, the iX3, all-electric sibling of the X3, too will undergo a facelift. As for the competition, the 2022 BMW X3 will continue to rival the likes of Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo XC60.
