With its powerful powertrain, decent styling, fast charging and impressive range, Hyundai’s Kona EV rocked hearts in the EV market. And that impact can be clearly seen on the vehicle’s sales figures. Hyundai says, that it managed to sell 100,000 units in over two years, which is a very big milestone considering the market and that too in such a short period.

The Hyundai Kona is the most successful vehicle in the compact electric SUV segment. Priced at $37,190, it is one of the most affordable cars in its segment and though it is a little costlier than its competitors like the Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Bolt, its features and range make up for it.

The interior with its subtle and quality styling is a great place to be in. From the outside, it looks sporty yet sophisticated. The engine is rather a powerful one making peak power @ 201BHP and peak torque @ 291 lb-ft. But perhaps the most impressive thing about this vehicle is the range and the charge. At full charge, it will do a whopping 259 miles which is 20 miles more than the Chevrolet Bolt. Using a level 3 charging system, it will charge up to 80 per cent in 54 minutes.

With these impressive stats, it is clear that Hyundai is leading the compact EV segment and from what it looks, they are here to stay. The Kona EV will help Hyundai to achieve its goal of selling 560,000 EV units by 2025. Further upon Kia and Hyundai have announced that are planning to launch 11 EV’ by 2025.
