Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn flees Japan amidst pending Japan trial
As per some media reports, the former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn has fled Japan and he is believed to have traveled to Lebanon. Ghosn has said in a statement that he had not fled the justice system but “escaped injustice and political persecution”.
He is also believed to have said that he will no more be held hostage by a “rigged” Japanese justice system where “guilt is presumed, discrimination is rampant and basic human rights are denied.”
Ghosn was arrested in Japan in 2018 over allegations of financial misconduct. He was then released on bail following a restraint that he shall be barred from leaving the country. Ghosn was born in Brazil and his parents are of Lebanese descent which further explains his Lebanon runaway.
