Mercedes to launch a slew of cars at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020 (Including the world’s fastest series 4 seater)
Mercedes Benz is geared up to not only thrill us but also captivate us with its showcase at the 15th Edition of the Delhi Auto Expo. The selection of models, the promising set of latest technologies and the distinctive services will be displayed by the brand to charm the customers. Considering the three pointed star is the largest auto-maker in the Indian luxury car market, it is expected that they will attract a larger portion of the visitors at Auto Expo 2020.
The CEO & MD of Mercedes Benz India, Martin Schwenk said “Participation in Auto Expo reflects our unwavering commitment to our customers who want to associate with a winning and fundamentally strong brand. The unmatched brand showcase planned by Mercedes-Benz will not only fascinate our customers and enthusiasts, it will also send a strong message of excitement and positive sentiment. As leaders in the luxury car industry, our investments at the Auto Expo firmly reiterate Mercedes-Benz’s confidence in the long-term prospect of the luxury car market and the bullishness of its customers; it also underline our responsibility to drive the industry and provide a positive stimulus to the market. Inspired by our mantra of “Restless for Tomorrow”, the Mercedes-Benz pavilion will be a perfect embodiment of modern luxury, future technology and progressiveness, all of which are synonymous with the Three Pointed Star”
The AMG performance division will also be on a roll! Mercedes AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC (4 door coupe), the world’s fastest series production four-seater is going to make its debut in India. And I can already hear the roaring cheers of gear heads, like myself!
The Auto Expo 2020 will also see the unveiling of the A-Class Limousine. This model plays a crucial role in strengthening the sedan portfolio of Mercedes Benz and is one of the key products being introduced for the year 2020 in India. This A-Class sedan is anticipated to be inclined towards attracting the younger demographic who are in search of a stylish yet high-performing luxury car. The model has features such as the latest MBUX infotainment systems, next-gen telematics, and an ample amount of space for luggage and passengers.
Next, there is going to be another launch at the Auto Expo that will boost the SUV portfolio of the brand. The New GLA, which globally premiered in December 2019, will finally come to India that further reflects the importance of the Indian market for the brand (Cough! VW). The New GLA will be another key model of Mercedes Benz to have an eye out for in 2020.
Furthermore, the ‘EQC Edition 1886’ will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 as well. This model is the forerunner for the brand’s electrical mobility brand ‘EQ’. The term ‘EQ’ is for ‘Electric Intelligence’ and is a direct derivation of one of the core values of the brand, Emotion and Intelligence. The display of this model will be an indication of the effort Mercedes Benz is putting towards creating services that are sustainable for the ecosystem. It also provides an insight into the long-term strategy the brand has in place to introduce the battery electric vehicles brand, EQ, in India.
The product portfolio of Mercedes Benz India comprises of models produced locally as well as CBUs. The CKD GLC-class was actually the ninth product which was added to the local production portfolio. The retail sales for Mercedes Benz India recorded for the period January-December 2019 was 13,786 units and we know why Merc is focussing on India so much!
