Mercedes’ EQG badge receives European trademark!

The recently-revealed GMC Hummer EV SUV and the Rivian R1S have a new rival in the making. And it has been the best-in-class for a while!

In a recent turn of events, Mercedes-Benz has been given the green signal for the all-electric version of its G-Class, dubbed the ‘EQG’, by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) as it registered a trademark for the same. Important to understand that the German carmaker first applied back in 2016.

Throwback to 2019, at a conference in Berlin, Daimler CEO, Ola Källenius, confirmed the all-electric G-Class but since then, little was heard, until now. We are limited to the information regarding the EQG but what we do is that it could be based on Mercedes’ Electric Vehicle Architecture, the same platform as the upcoming EQS, EQE, to name a few.

Additionally, the two names of the variants of the EQG that have been registered with the EUIPO, are EQG 560 and EQG 580. More as we know it.
