BMW turns the tables with teaser of the first ever BMW M3 Touring

Their instagram caption: "mic drop". Enough said.

In what seems to be the smoothest teaser ever released, BMW leaves us all in awe. The auto major has released a shadowy figure that happens to be the partial rear of the first ever Touring for the M3 line. We have not even seen half the car and it already has us drooling.

With an elegantly binding rear that is equipped with a mean-looking quad tip exhaust system, here are the details so far on the premium mid-range that is seen testing in Garching near Munich.

BMW says that the exquisite new M3 Touring will be generously spacious in terms of the luggage compartment and the car will have all the performance elements associated with the M line. The 5-door will run on a reliable 6-cylinder M TwinPower turbo engine to give us a uniform mix of sporty and practical.

Other design elements revealed so far include wider axles and conspicuously large front air intakes.

The power output is estimated to be in the range of  480 – 510 horsepower, IF it shares the same specs as the sedan. Further rumours predict that it will have AWD as standard since it is a more practical car and possibly even exclude a manual variant. I guess we will just have to wait and see what BMW M GmbH has planned.

Though it has entered testing stages, the M3 touring has a long way to go in the development process, which BMW estimates will last approximately 2 years. But do expect the prototype of the new mid-range to become a regular sight soon enough, when it begins testing on the Nürburgring.

BMW is currently running a busy schedule as they also have the premieres of the BMW M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Coupe in September 2020. It is also a well known fact that a new edition of the BMW M4 Convertible will follow up sometime next year.
