The VW Taigun starts at Rs 10.5 Lakh!

VW's competitor for the Seltos, Creta and Kushaq has been priced quite aggressively and might just change things for the German automaker in India.

The all-new VW Taigun ‘SUVW’ has been launched with a starting price of Rs 10.5 Lakh. The car has been made available with two broad variants, with further division of sub-variants under them. These are the Performance Line and the Dynamic Line. Here’s the list of all the variants:

Comfort Line

  • 1.0L Comfortline TSI MT: 10.49 Lakh
  • 1.0L Highline TSI MT: 12.80 Lakh
  • 1.0L Highline TSI AT: 14.09 Lakh
  • 1.0L Topline TSI MT: 14.56 Lakh
  • 1.0L Topline TSI AT: 15.90 Lakh

Performance Line

  • 1.5L TSI GT Line MT: 14.99 Lakh
  • 1.5L TSI GT Plus AT: 17.50 Lakh

The car is decently powerful as well, with the 1.0L engine producing 115HP/175NM, while the more powerful 1.5L producing 150HP/250NM. A 6-speed manual is common across both variants, though as for the automatic variants, the 1.0L variant gets a 6-speed torque converter, while the 1.5L variant gets a 7-speed dual clutch automatic.

The car is quite feature-rich as well, with the top variant getting a 10″ infotainment system, an 8″ digital instrument cluster with a very Audi-esque virtual cockpit MID, leather seats, climate control, a sunroof, etc. There are even safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, Hill Hold functionality, and a parking camera.

On the exterior, the car has a 2-slat grille, complete with chrome inserts, LED headlamps with DRL’s,  LED tail lights, a lip spoiler on the rear, and the car also has 17-inch alloys. The car is somewhat similar to the Kushaq… or shall I say the Kushaq was born off of the Taigun. well, that’ll be an understatement. What is likeably different here is the Taigun is a more minimalistic in nature.

The car will be available in 5 colours at launch- Curcuma Yellow, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel Grey, Wild Cherry Red and Candy White. With a whole host of competitors pitted against it, it’ll be exciting to see how it pans out for the Taigun!
