Mercedes Petronas AMG reveal their brand new 2020 F1 car – Champions again?

It’s Valentine’s day and a lot of F1 fans had love at first sight! Current F1 champions Mercedes AMG unveiled their 2020 season car called the W11. Fans of the sport are eager to know if the W11 challenger will be the car to break all records for the team!

The livery, complete with a new sponsor in INEOS, was unveiled on Monday at London’s Royal Automobile Club. Although, these images from the launch, show the real thing – the gold (read silver) standard for F1 cars since the start of the turbo-hybrid era as Mercedes have secured every title since 2014.

Mercedes also had their very first F1 car of the modern era, the 2010 W01, at Silverstone, as the team reflects on a decade in F1 as a full works team. Team Principal Toto Wolff said: “Who would have thought between these cars we would win 12 championships? It’s always good to remind yourself where it all started.”

Fancy some trash talk much? Well, Max Verstappen had stated that Lewis is “good and maybe god is with him but, he is not god”. Here’s what Lewis Hamilton had to say when asked if the young guns posed a threat to him and his record breaking 7th championship title. “I find it funny seeing that. I’ve just always been known to do my talking on the track. I tend to see that as a sign of weakness, so… “, said Lewis.

Max Verstappen has been quite open with his thoughts from the start but, it’s one of those rare occasions where we heard Lewis Hamilton respond in such a way! These are THE things that keep the essence of the sport alive and we are excited to see how this season unfolds.

Next year is a new era for F1 but, Toto Wolff insisted that Mercedes are very much focused on winning a seventh constructors’ championship this season.

“There’s a group of people concentrating on the 2021 car… but for us here, the race team, it is all about 2020 and making use of the equipment that has been given to the drivers,” he said.

All will get even more interesting on February 19th when the teams reach Barcelona to startpre-season testing with their new cars and drivers. While Lewis Hamilton is looking for his 7th championship title, Vallteri Bottas is yet to find his calling to grab hold of the championship trophy for once. Will this be their year or will Ferrari/RedBull finally stop the Mercedes reign, only time will tell!
