VW’s 2021 Tiguan unveiled in India under the SUVW unveilings
The big Tiguan is coming in a more tailored suit. And it launches along side the T-Roc.
The 4th SUV from Volkswagen’s stable in India, the New Tiguan is almost here. Built on the TSI-tech MQB platform, the new Tiguan looks bold and aggressive, thanks to the new grille and bumper design. It also flaunts an upgraded new 18-inch Frankfurt alloys, a panoramic sunroof and Dark Red LED tail-lamps with new light signatures. VW has also given the headlamps, DRLs and cornering lights the LED treatment with dynamic range control for the headlights.
The upcoming SUV will be powered by a 2.0L TSI engine and will deliver a peak power of 190PS with 320 Nm of torque. It is mated with a 4MOTION, 7-speed DSG transmission with paddle shifts.
On the inside, it’ll get Premium Vienna leather seats, illuminated scuff plates along with 30 shades of ambient lights. The Light technology within the vehicle with intelligent LED Matrix is paired with an advanced light control module for different light modes.
Other standard features have been carried over from the previous version. Those include a virtual cockpit, touchscreen infotainment system with three-zone climate controls and connected car technology like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,
As expected out of a German car, the car will be equipped with have 6-airbags, 3-point seat belts, 3 headrests at rear and an ISOFIX feature. ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL, Auto-hold, TPMS, driver alert system, hill start assist & hill descent control will also be there for a better and safety driving experience. The new Tiguan will see a bunch of features under their advanced driver assistance systems, Volkswagen IQ.
Under Volkswagen’s India 2.0 strategy, Tiguan too will be locally assembled and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 28 – 32 lakh.
Furthermore, Volkswagen India informed about the tremendous response it is receiving from the customers on T-Roc and Tiguan Allspace. The German carmaker confirms the second batch of these carlines will be made available to customers very soon. The Tiguan Allspace is the seven-seater SUV version of of the standard Tiagun and is adventurous in nature. It comes equipped with a power-mill of 2.0l TSI engine, 4MOTION and a 7-speed DSG transmission with paddle shifts. On the other hand, The T-Roc is targeted at the urban Indian customers looking for a bold design language along with comfort and superior driving experience. It is powered by a 1.5L EVO TSI engine mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission.
The New T-Roc is available for offline booking at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 21.35 Lakh across all Volkswagen dealers in India. The company has planned to commence the deliveries for the T-Roc from May 2021.
