Skoda to launch the Octavia RS iV in India next year

The new Octavia RS iV could arrive as a CBU to India sometime next year- here's what we know prior to its launch.

Skoda is set to be gearing up to launch the Octavia RS iV in India sometime next year, sources say. With the “hype” for EVs and hybrids ever-growing in India, it is but obvious that Skoda would also want to jump on that very bandwagon. Sure, the car was released in 2020 but how often do foreign cars make their way to the country within their first year of launch anyway?

The 4th-gen Octavia is quite a popular car in India, so the RS iV should be expected to follow suit. A 13kWh battery pack gives the car an electric-only range of 60km, and the electric motor produces 116HP. The petrol motor is a 1.4L 150HP TSI, which is a step down from the RS245. 0-100 takes 7.3 seconds, which isn’t too bad!

The exterior sees a few changes as compared to the standard Octavia- on the outside, there’s a new front grille with elements of black, new sharp alloys, an updated bumper, RS badging and more for starters. On the inside, the interior is all-black with a new dashboard, updated steering wheel, an updated infotainment system and more to set it apart from the normal Octavia. In almost all other aspects though, it is the same as the standard Octavia.

We did receive an RS version of the Octavia in the Indian market, but that was back in 2020. Considering how it cost 36 lakh INR, we should expect Skoda to charge a premium for the RS iV hence the price could be in the ballpark of 38-42 lakh INR.
