VW Virtus sedan coming to India next year! Expected global debut in February 2022

The successor to the Vento finally announced by VW India.

Volkswagen have confirmed that their new Virtus sedan will be making its way to the Indian market next year, and will be replacing the Vento. The Virtus will be built on VW’s new MQB-A0-IN platform, the same platform which the new-generation Polo will be built on. The car will share many of its design details with its cousin car, the Skoda Slavia.

The car will be bigger and wider than the outgoing Vento, which means that it is sure to be very spacious. The interior of the car will also share some of its interior design details with the Taigun, which is built on the same platform. Mechanically, the car is expected to carry over the 1.0L engine from the Vento, with a 1.5L option also available. Transmission options may be varied, but it is expected that the 1.0L engine will have both a petrol as well as a automatic option, while the transmission options for the 1.5L are not confirmed.

The car is already on sale in most international markets, though India is likely to get the facelifted variant which will make its global debut next year. VW India aims to have the car in production by February next year, and a marlet introduction by April next year. More details will hopefully be revealed soon over time by VW India.
