Mercedes-Benz brings the GLE 63 S Coupe to India at INR 2.07 crores

Mercedes' most powerful GLE variant now available in India!

Mercedes India have just launched the GLE 63 S in India, starting at Rs 2.07 crores. The model is the top of the line model for the GLE class in India, and comes just over a month after Merc launched the C53 and C63 in India, which signals the fact that Mercedes is increasing its commitment towards making the AMG brand more popular in the country.

Mechanically, the car is fantastic- was there ever any doubt about it? A 4.0L V8 engine sits under the hood, giving the driver a whopping 612BHP to play with. A peak torque level of 850NM is also standard, meaning that this car has, as Jeremy Clarkson puts it, “Powerrrrrrr”! 0-100 km/h takes a mere 3.8 seconds, and the top speed is an eye-watering 280 km/h. This car also debuts the EQ Boost technology for the first time in India, a 48V mild-hybrid system, which gives the driver an extra 22BHP and 250NM of torque which can be used at the driver’s own disposal.

As it is a top-of-the-line variant, both the exterior and the interior are decked out. Active Roll Stabilisation, a carbon-fibre bodykit and 22-inch AMG-studded wheels are part of the exterior of the car, and a signature “Panamericana” grille differentiates it from the standard GLE. A 9-speed gearbox with Mercedes’ 4MATIC system is also standard in this variant.

On the inside, the car has been kitted out to perfection. A 12.3in touchscreen display is the predominant part of the cabin, and the interior shares most of it’s design with the normal GLE. The changes are in the form of AMG badging on the upholstery, Nappa leather seats, an AMG-specific 3-spoke steering wheel, aluminium paddle shifters and AMG badging in the interior of the car.

The car might not be an affordable one at over Rs 2 crores, but it sure is worth the money. Geeks at Affalterbach are well known for the deliverance of absolute performance so, we expect this car to be no different!
