MG Gloster launched in India at a starting price of ₹28.98 Lakh

MG is giving a choice between four trim levels for the Gloster; The Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy.

It wasn’t long ago that we reported that Morris Garages was going to bring yet another SUV to India, the Gloster. The large SUV with imposing styling will be the flagship of MG’s India lineup and is being offered from an introductory starting price of ₹28.98 lakh.

MG is giving a choice between four trim levels for the Gloster; The Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy.

The base trim, the Super, comes only in a seven-seat configuration and gets a lot of equipment as standard including six airbags, ESP, traction control, hill hold, cruise control, auto headlights and wipers, a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and more.

Sitting above the Super is the Smart trim, priced at ₹30.98 lakh. It adds features like a sunroof, paddle shifters, 3-zone climate control, MG’s ‘i-Smart’ connected car tech, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. This variant can only be had as a 6-seater option.

The Sharp trim can be had in either a Six-Seater or a Seven-Seater configuration, depending on which it will cost you ₹33.68 or ₹33.98 lakh. Added features include a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat with heating, ventilation, massage and memory functions, a 12-speaker sound system, 360-degree parking cameras, blind-spot monitoring system and more.

The Savvy trim sits on the top of the Gloster hill at ₹35.38 lakh and can only be had as a six-seater. The top trim level gets Advanced Driver Assistance System features, like forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control and hands-free parking.

The new MG Gloster offers a choice between two Diesel Engine options, the first one being a 2.0litre inline-four turbo making 163hp and 375Nm of torque. This engine is available in the Super and Smart trims.

The Sharp and Savvy trims come with the same engine but this time with another turbo attached, helping the four-cylinder diesel produce 218hp and 480Nm of torque. This power unit also gets on-demand four-wheel drive with selectable drive modes.

Both engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The MG Gloster will go head to head with other ladder-frame SUVs like the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4.

All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
