Volkswagen launches Polo Comfortline TSI (AT) at Rs 8.51 lakh

The updated trim gets all the bells and whistles of the standard Comfortline trim with the addition of an Automatic transmission.

Volkswagen India launched a new automatic variant of its premium hatchback, Polo on Thursday. The mid-spec turbo petrol model comes at a price tag of Rs 8.51 lakh (ex-showroom). The German automaker is also offering a metallic paint option, priced at a premium of Rs 10,000 over the standard variant. However, VW is also giving an early birds discount of Rs 17,000 on both models till the end of June 2021. So, one can currently get the new Polo Comfortline TSI AT from Rs 8.34-8.44 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Altroz and i20 rival comes with a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine churns out an output of 110hp with 175 Nm of torque. The claimed fuel efficiency of 18.24 Km/l is also on par with the rest of the segment offerings.

The design and feature of the new hatchback variant are exactly similar to other Polo models. It comes with Comfortline trims’s 7-inch Blaupunkt touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and automatic climate control. In addition, it comes equipped with other standard set of features like electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors, ambient lighting, rear windshield washer and wiper, remote central locking, rear parking sensors, cooled glovebox among more. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD are also offered as standard.

The Polo comes in various trims in India viz Trendline, Comfortline, Highline Plus and GT grades. The entry-level Trendline and Comfortline trims use a 1.0-litre three-cylinder MPI petrol engine returning 75 bhp of maximum power and 95 Nm of torque. The rest of the range is equipped with the same turbo TSI powertrain seen on this new VW offering. The Polo series rivals the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and the Tata Altroz. The new trim-line will be available in Red, Sunset Red, White, Silver and Carbon Steel paint schemes.
