The new variants of BMW’s X5 SUV which are slated to be locally produced in Chennai, have been launched for online bookings today. There will be 2 variants available at launch, and they will be:
- BMW X5 xDrive30d SportX Plus : INR 79,50,000 (ex-showroom)
- BMW X5 xDrive40i SportX Plus : INR 77,90,000 (ex-showroom)
The front of the car has been spruced up, with a one-piece hexagonal grille, and a sculpted bonnet. The headlights and tail-lights are LED, with the tail lights also having a 3D wrap-around style design. Roof rails are also present, which help ascertain the car’s ruggedness.
The interior mixes spaciousness with luxury, as is tradition for this family of cars. BMW has added a few new exclusive features, like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sportily-designed seats, a panoramic sunroof and even 4-zone climate control. It’s safe to say that the features are well worth the price!
The engines are monsters as well, with a massively powerful 3-litre diesel engine in the xDrive30d producing 265HP/620NM, while the 3-litre petrol engine in the xDrive40d produces 340HP/450NM. Both have incredible acceleration from 0-100 in just 6.5 and 5.5 seconds respectively.
The car is also, of course paired with BMW’s own xDrive system, which is an intelligent AWD system which keeps adapting to its surroundings to ensure a smooth driving experience. Inbuilt are features like Hill Start and Hill Descent, Dynamic Traction Control and also Automatic Differential Brakes. There is also an adaptive suspension, which further improves the driving experience. Paddle shifters are also given as standard.
