The Astor is based on the facelifted ZS EV which is sold broad, and gets unique features like a new grille, LED headlamps with DRL, 17-inch alloys, and even a small lip spoiler at the rear of the car. A new front and rear bumper and skid-plate are also new for the car, and differentiates it from the ZS EV.

The main focus of the car lies in its interior, more specifically tech! The car has been absolutely filled to the brim with tech-y stuff, as a Jio e-sim is fitted as standard in every Astor, along with mapping technology from MapMyIndia, parking support with Park+, and even a “vehicle passport”. AI is laden all around the car, with the company’s focus on tech being well-known, as the Hector also had lots of similar tech features to spruce things up. Safety features like ADAS, Cruise Control, Lane and Speed assist are also present in the car. In terms of luxury, the car is spacious, with leather upholstery, and 3 interior colour schemes available.

The car also has a good power output, with an option of two petrol engines on offer- a 1.3L turbo-petrol, which produces 140HP/220NM, while a more powerful 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine is also available, which produces 108HP/144NM. On the safety front, the Astor is supposed to have a 5 star ASEAN NCAP rating and is supposed to be the safest car in the segment.

The car is expected to be launched in the festive season, and will rival the segment leader that is the Hyundai Creta alongside its sister car, the Kia Seltos. Also in its sights are the German twins of Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun. It’ll be a tall mountain, though I believe MG will well and truly give Hyundai headaches!
