Hyundai India is gearing up to launch a new base variant of the popular Alcazar SUV, and that it will sit below the current base “Prestige” model. There will be 3 versions on offer: Prestige 1.5 Diesel MT 6 and 7 seater, Prestige 2.0 Petrol MT and Prestige (O) Diesel 1.5 AT Executive.
This means that the same engines which power the existing variants of the Alcazar will return here with an option between automatic and manual gears. The 1.5L diesel produces 114HP/250NM of power while the 2.0L petrol produces 158HP/191NM of power, and both will be paired to a 6-speed manual and automatic.
It must go without saying though that this version will see a few corners cut in terms of entertainment features and creature comforts. Paddle shifters, touchscreen infotainment and possibly even driver aids could be excluded from this variant, however Hyundai shouldn’t compromise on safety and will likely still offer 6 airbags with the car.
